SE4I - Smart Energy Efficiency & Environment for Industry
PON “Research and Innovation” 2014-2020 – Project ARS01_01137, Project title “SE4I – Smart Energy Efficiency & Environment for Industry”.
The SE4I Project – Smart Energy Efficiency & Environment for Industry (Cod. ARS01_01137) – presented in response to the Public Notice Prot. n. 1735 of 13/07/2017 issued by the MIUR (Ministry of Education, University and Research) – is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the PON R&I 2014-2020 – Axis 2 – Action II – OS 1.b) (Concession Decree Prot. n. 2060 of 02/08/2018).
The project aims to identify technological solutions to support industrial processes, according to Industry 4.0, through the study and testing of a system/ platform based on the integration of Internet of Things technologies and new materials, to provide innovative and sustainable services to businesses in terms of: safety, monitoring and efficiency. The project will exploit an asset that is currently undervalued as the lighting network, the smart «industry» city.
The development and integration of technologies will involve both Industrial Research and Experimental Development activities carried out in an industrial area (the ASI of Brindisi) with these objectives:
- Activation of a connectivity bubble based on innovative technologies such as MulteFire (extended coverage and secure, reliable and high-performance data transmission);
- Development and testing of smart street lamps that will offer services such as:
- low consumption and efficient lighting;
environmental monitoring of indoor and outdoor spaces (climate, acoustic…); - security and monitoring: facial recognition, license plates, abnormal events;
- sicurezza e monitoraggio: riconoscimento facciale, targhe, eventi anomali;
- location and navigation (means and persons);
- study of integration within the lighting body of charging points for electric vehicles.
- low consumption and efficient lighting;
- The building transformed into an intelligent node, communicates with the lighting infrastructure to retrieve data on real environmental conditions and optimizes energy efficiency by integrating:
- Smart Windows: advanced technologies integrated (plasmocromic) or applicable on existing (Ecoled) will ensure greater energy efficiency of environments, innovative lighting comfort and future display information to users.
- Energy autonomous sensors, thanks to energy recovery generated by normal activities (energy harvesting).
- Development of energy optimization models, image analysis and environmental conditions forecasts through algorithms based on machine learning and advanced video analysis.
SE4I is proposed according to the concept of “living lab” and in this sense the industrial area is the right place for the methodology of experimentation (loop cycle) that aims to design innovative services in an open ecosystem (Open Innovation). The employment impact will be measurable both with new ICT and technological profiles (researchers, iot integrators, data scientists), and by creating real start-up and spin-off opportunities to develop data driven technologies and services.
